Photobiomodulation
Photobiomodulation
Enhance Your Brain Function
Photobiomodulation is a non-invasive therapy that stimulates, protects, and repairs the brain on a cellular level. It does this by stimulating cells to generate more energy and undergo self-repair through the use of near-infrared light. It is also known as low-level light (or laser) therapy.
We now offer both the opportunity to have photobiomodulation in our clinic, or to purchase your own home unit.

How Does It Work?
The current and widely accepted proposal is that the low-level visible red to near-infrared light (NIR) energy is absorbed by mitochondria and converted into ATP for cellular use. Also, the process creates mild oxidants, which leads to gene transcription and then to cellular repair and healing. The process also unclogs the chain that has been clogged by nitric oxide. The nitric oxide is then released back into the system. Nitric oxide is a molecule that our body produces to help its 50 trillion cells communicate with each other. This communication happens by way of the transmission of signals throughout the entire body. Additionally, nitric oxide helps to dilate the blood vessels and improve blood circulation.
The Benefits of Photobiomodulation
Science has proven that UV light from the sun on our skin stimulates Vitamin D production. More than 40% of the sun’s light waves come from healthy, Near InfraRed wavelengths. Photobiomodulation uses light to stimulate brain activity.
Established research documents that photobiomodulation can be helpful for:
- Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia
- Post-traumatic stress disorder
- Increased Focus
- Improved Memory
- Cognitive impairment from trauma, injury, etc.
- Depression, anxiety, and mood disorders
- Parkinson’s Disease
- Stroke
The Device
The Vielight Neuro device is made to deliver red and near-infrared light to the brain via two pathways. Red light is applied transcranially (through the skull) over the brain’s default mode network. Near-infrared light is applied intranasally (up the nose, through the nasal passage). The intranasal application provides close proximity to the brain and is devoid of light barriers such as dense hair and skin.
What About Side Effects?
There are no side effects with photobiomodulation. Occasionally, first-time users may experience a headache, dry throat, or tiredness. Most patients report an improvement in their level of energy.
